Notice the entirely empty avenue behind the cop car. There is no conceivable argument this was necessary use of force. Wholly unjustifiable.
For all those horrified by the footage of the Tacoma cop car ramming into people last night: This is NYPD doing the same in June. Mayor De Blasio defended this action & the NYPD chief praised his force for their “restraint.” This is attempted murder.

No surprise here. This is the same police force that sends undercovers to treatment centers to target people struggling w/ substance use. They pretend they’re struggling too. Trick people into helping them buy drugs & then arrest them for drug sale. The opposite of health/safety.

Good afternoon, it’s 2021 in a blue city in a blue state in a blue country and cops in NYC are still using “the odor of marijuana” to justify pretextual stops, and prosecutors who “don’t prosecute marijuana offenses” are allowing it to happen.
Unless cannabis is legalized, cops will use it to stop, search, & harass near-exclusively Black & Brown people living only in certain neighborhoods. Doesnt matter if DAs pledge to stop charging. Or police departments claim they’ll stop arresting for it. It’s a tool of oppression.

Meanwhile, entire crowds of Black & Brown teenagers get swept up, arrested, & charged as accomplices for being in the vicinity when a fight breaks out. I wish they were given this same kind of deference & benefit of the doubt.
